For the first time in school history, the girl’s basketball team defeated the No. 1 team in the city. The Spartans started their road schedule with a huge statement by defeating Andress 48-42.

“I felt we all played as a team,” senior guard Dinisha Prince said. “Everyone doubted us, but we came back with a win, and we feel unstoppable beating the number one team in the city.”

Head coach Steven Lee, who enters his second year for the Spartans, constantly tells his players that this is their year. Despite any setbacks last year, this year they are smarter, this year they are better, and after today, the city has also heard the message.

Junior Trinity Anderson scored 16 points for the Spartans.
