The Spartans continue to blow past the competition with their flawless record of 4-0, and a district record of 2-0, beating the El Dorado Aztecs 35-22 Thursday night.

With the first quarter being a clash between both team’s offense and defense, the quarter ended with no points for either teams.

But in true Spartan fashion, they released the steam on the Aztecs, scoring two touchdowns, with two run-ins scores by seniors Sam Chacon and Jahlil Bost, over the one El Dorado, ending the first half 13-7.

“We trusted our run game,” head coach Mark Torres said. “We put the ball into the hands of our offensive line and RB’s to get it done, and they did.”

The second quarter also saw some misfortune when kicker Aaron Ortega was injured and replaced with junior Marcus Torres.

“He played soccer, he is kind of the only other guy that know how to kick it excellently,” coach Torres said about the sudden switch.

With the third being eventful as well, the Spartans came out on top scoring two touchdowns, one run-in by senior Sam Chacon and a touchdown pass caught by senior Jacob Ledesma, ending the quarter 29-16.

“Its just mainly my line, seeing that hole, and trusting that my line can do their job and get the block for me to get in there,” Chacon said about what led to his three touchdowns.

The fourth quarter started with a bang when the Spartans scored on their first possession with another Ledesma touchdown. This would seal the win, 35-22.

“I would like to take full credit but I can’t, with the O-line in the front, and blocking Sam in the back, it really isn’t just one individual,” Jacob said.

The Spartans take on the Coronado Thunderbirds for their homecoming game next week, Friday, Sept 23.

“The plan is to not think about homecoming, we hope to play well so everyone can have a good home coming,” said Torres about the game next week.
