Senior Erica Smith and freshman Alaina Villegas placed second and fourth place in the second tournament of the season hosted by Andress High School at Painted Dunes Golf Course, Nov. 9 .

After having a poor turnout for their first tournament, Pebble Hills bounced back with four girls competing.

Smith recalls the weather being a major factor in her game, preferring the cold weather over warmer temperatures.

“I did quite better, a little bit better,” said Smith, comparing her performances from last week to her most recent one. “I’m not hitting as much as I used to.”

After competing in her first tournament in nearly two years, senior Alondra Aleman lookback at the improvements she has made since her last competition.

“Some improvements I saw was in my score card,” said Alondra. “I remember on my last tournament, I kept getting more than nine strokes in every hole and on this tournament, I was able to get a bogey and lower than a nine.”

Along with her sister, Casandra Aleman picks at her performance today, detailing the improvements that need to be made to better her playing skills.

I recognized that I need to enhance my putting skills,” said Casandra. “Also, need to improve my accuracy when hitting the ball.”

At the her second ever competition,  freshman Alaina Villegas placed fourth overall.

“The day before, me and my dad go to the range and practice on every club and prepare myself,” said Villegas. “The day of the tournament me and my dad practice on last minute drills before I go play.”

Pebble Hills girls will be in action again on Nov. 16 at Horizon Golf Course
