To kick off the year the Spartan Thespian Society will be performing their first production of the school year.

The cast continues to prepare for their opening night on Nov. 4 where they will be preforming “Alice in Wonderland.”

According to Theater teacher Rossy Sanchez there was quite the turnout for auditions Aug. 20; making it one of the largest in school history.

As opening night slowly approaches theater continues to work hard to perfect their play and advertise as much as possible to ensure a great opening night.

“What has been different this time is how we are advertising it,” senior and captain Alexia Villa said. “We have posters in every single hallway.”

While they prepare for opening night, the cast members have grown closer as a family, establishing a relationship and a support system.

Junior Elicia Hartzell, who was an understudy for Alice, landed the starring role and will make her high school debut.

“Preparing for the play has been fun,” Hartzell said. “Rehearsing for the theater group it’s like we all cheer each other up it’s like a family.”

As the anticipation grows the cast puts the finishing touches together, looking forward to putting on an unforgettable performance.

“My favorite part of the play is getting into character because I play a pretty silly person,” said junior Nathaniel Diaz, who plays Dodo. “The most exciting thing is honestly the whole play, its coming along, I’m excited to show everyone.”

“Alice in Wonderland” will debut on Nov. 4 in the theater at 7:00 p.m.
