Complications in scheduling between Anthony Joshua, the WBA, IBF, WBO title holder, and WBC title holder Tyson Fury has led to a bout between Anthony Joshua and Ukrainian Oleksandr Uysk.

A loss at a huge opportunity for a mega fight of two of the best heavyweights, Fury and Joshua, for the claim of undisputed champion which means they would hold all the major titles at once.

The reason for the fall out of one of the biggest fights in modern-day heavyweight history was a United States arbitrator order for Fury to have a trilogy bout with former opponent, Deontay Wilder. Fury won in their last bout via TKO in round seven.

If the fights go how odds predicate then to go all should go as planned, Fury and Joshua win their next fights and meet each other to fight for the undisputed title. Even though odd makers have Joshua as a -285 favorite to win, he still has a very difficult task in front of him in the undefeated 18-0 Uysk.

In Anthony Joshua’s one loss to Mexican Andy Ruiz, Joshua showed weaknesses that a great boxer like Oleksandr could exploit with his opponent being around the same size.

In this fight Usyk is clearly the better and more technical boxer but Anthony Joshua has physical advantages being larger, heavier, and stronger. Joshua is 6’6 with a 82-inch reach compared to Usyk’s, a former undisputed cruiserweight world champion, 6’3 height and 78-inch reach frame.

Uysk used to fight in the cruiserweight division; historically cruiserweights that move up in weight can find success against the best at heavyweight.

If Oleksandr can capture a win this weekend against Joshua, he can join the likes of David Haye and Evander Holyfield as former cruiserweight champions who were able to move up to heavyweight and capture gold.

Given that these two fights are taking place a week apart from each other, it is disappointing to miss the opportunity to see Fury and Joshua face off for the claim of first-undisputed heavyweight ever. The bout could have been the greatest match of our time, being between two men who have beaten almost every top challenger.

Tyson Fury’s last win over Deontay Wilder was dominant, and I feel he will win again. As for this weekend’s fight, it’s going to be tough, but I’m picking Uysk to win by decision. This win could set up a mega fight between Uysk and Fury, a fight that will actually happen.
