Schools from several districts competed at Marchfest Saturday Oct. 21 at the Student Activities Complex (SAC) to see which band is the best.

After competing in the non-varsity division last year, the Spartans managed to place fifth in finals, with color guard finishing second overall with a score of 88.

The all-day event featured numerous musical acts with a five minute setup and a ten minute performance to regulate their shows.

“I think at finals, it went really well because everyone was so confident in their performance,” junior Lizeth Guzman. “So, I think that confidence boosted us up. Our directors always say we can improve the little things and the details such as the visuals.”

According to senior, Valessa Rodriguez their performance only got better as the night progressed.

“Honestly, in my opinion, I think the competition went very well,” Rodriguez said. “Granted color guard and band, at the start it really did not go that well. However in finals, we really brought it out; it was phenomenal.”

Their next competition will be Saturday, Nov. 4 at New Mexico State University.
