Students and staff gathered at the gym in celebration of ten seniors signing where their next chapter in life will begin in the fall.
One of the seniors that signed was captain of the boys’ soccer team, Brian Lira, who will be attending Manchester University at Indiana and will be contributing to the soccer team. Lira, who finished off one of his best seasons who played in the Sweet Sixteen against Prosper High School, will be playing the position of right back, at Manchester.
“I feel great knowing my accomplishments have helped me get accepted and helped me get scholarship money,” Lira said.
As Lira leaves a legacy at the school and accomplishes great things, he hopes for his teammates to continue the winning tradition that he was a part of.
“Thrive for more championships, good grades, and for great things,” said Lira on what drives him.
Lira wanted to add some tips for underclassmen.
“For my teammates I would like to tell them to appreciate every day and make everyday worth something because you never know when something might end,” Lira said.
Many accomplishments were made by these outstanding athletes, like varsity cheerleader Mia Gonzalez. She signed with New Mexico State, who will continue cheering while studying biology.
“It feels like a big accomplishment because I’ve been working on becoming a college cheerleader since freshman year,” Gonzalez said.
With her sister on her side giving encouragement and inspiration this led Gonzalez to become the cheerleader she is today.
“My sister was big impact on me because she gave me the courage to continue my dream to continue my dream on being a collegiate cheerleader.” Gonzalez said. “She helped me my whole cheer journey on not only becoming a better cheerleader, but a better person as well.”
As Gonzalez leaves off to a new journey to perform her dream, she hope her teammates will work hard towards greatness.
“Advice I would give to my fellow teammates is to work hard towards success and be yourself,” Gonzalez said.
