Finishing off the Cedar Hills Tournament on a high note was a must for the Spartans, and that’s what they did, beating the Chargers 78-68 to finish the tournament and break even.
The leading score teeter-tottered between both teams. Chargers led by 1 at the end of first quarter.
Going into second, Spartans pulled through 38-36 thanks to a big night for junior Diego Mudloff, who scored 15 points in the quarter alone.
“I feel like I gave the team energy after hitting shots for us,” Mudloff said. “That just sparked everything else.”
Mudloff had a total of 17. Team captain junior Austin Brown led with 23, and sophomore Isaiah Davis 12.
Chargers gained a 3-point lead at the end of third quarter. Spartans upped their defense, causing the Chargers to turn the ball over multiple times.
The team finished with a strong 10-point win, creating a victory ride home back to El Paso.
