Students at Pebble Hills High school have a new class, federal law enforcement and protective services. The class gives students a chance to learn how to shoot a real gun, and graduate with a level 2 and level 3 security officer license.

“There is such a high demand because that can lead to a much better than minimum wage paying job,” Mr. Rod Liston said. “We actually hand pick those students.”

There are only 20 spots available for both Mr. Liston and Ms. Diana Kirk. Both are allowing more students to join because many people do qualify.

According to Mr. Liston, the requirements to be in the class include: good grades, do not be late to class, and to be actively engaged in lessons and participate. Students are also expected to be a role model to others in law enforcement, the school, and district.

Students interested must be seniors who have already taken the prior courses. The class itself is free, but students are required to pay for the uniform, which is approximately $100.

Other schools in the district offer this course for students in law enforcement.
