The Future Farmers of America at Pebble Hills High School brought an engaging petting zoo experience to campus Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 24. Students had the opportunity to interact with the animals and get a chance to see what the FFA program is all about.
The petting zoo consisted of goats, horses, pigs, chicken, roosters and ponies.
“Setting this event was a great experience and learning opportunity for everyone in FFA,” senior Anna Martinez said. “We all learned more about the animals and things such as caring for them.”
Students enjoyed their time with the animals, and engage with them in ways such as petting, feeding and even holding chickens. Getting this event together was a little more difficult than most.
“Getting the school’s permission was quick and easy, but getting everything from the farm to the school was a big challenge,” sophomore Ashley Mota said.
Many of these animals came from a farm where students helped out or students from the program, brought their own animals.
Materials, cages, trucks and more helped bring the experience to campus during all three lunches.
“Interacting with the animals and learning more about them was a wonderful experience,” junior Natalie Job said. “I think the students enjoyed spending time with the animals.”
Overall, the FFA brought the event together in no time. Throughout the week FFA hosted events to showcase FFA appreciation. The petting zoo highlighted what being in the FFA program is all about.
