Student council has been working hard on this year’s prom. Year after year, their work is never truly appreciated. They work day-in and day-out to set up and build decorations. This Saturday, April 25, the Spartans will be celebrating prom at the Starlight Event Center 6650 Continental Drive.
After the link was posted on the student council Instagram account, students voted for the theme, Mascarade.
All throughout the day you can see student council members in the halls working hard on making sure that prom is one of the most memorable thing for this year’s juniors and seniors.
Making sure that they will walk out of the event with big smiles, happy hearts, and memories that they can carry with them forever.
Prom tickets online are $51 and will be going to $61 starting April 24. Student council has been offering discounts for students that bring in items for donations.
“We want as many people to go to and enjoy prom,” senior Valeria Manjarrez said. “A discount motivates people to buy tickets. This also gives us an opportunity to help others in the process.”
Setting up prom with only a small group of students seems like a daunting task, but with resilience and persistence from all of the student council members and adviser James Brown it doesn’t seem impossible.
“Everyone plays to their strengths,” Manjarrez said. “Some people design the decorations and other build them. Some people also contact companies that we may need services from.”
Prom is scheduled to start promptly at 8:30 p.m.
