Despite the cold weather, Pebble Hills varsity boy’s soccer won their opening game against the Socorro Bulldogs, 2-0, Friday afternoon, Jan. 9.
This win marks the fourth win of the year for the Spartans.
With a scoreless game in the first half, junior Michael Melucci scored the first goal to take the lead early in the second half.
“The highlight that I had was my penalty, creating our first goal chance and scoring,” Melucci said. “Our chemistry and our technical ability and I think our coaches helped a lot.”
The second goal was scored by junior Adrian Perez.
“The first win of the tournament was a good win, I just think we can keep going and work a little more,” senior Peyton Hart said. “I think they’ve found a way to motivate us more and they push us everyday at practice and I’m glad that we such great coaches.”
The Pebble Hills varsity team continues their winning streak against Socorro.
“It’s great for us to get the experience, it helps us get ready for district play,” senior Abel Griego said. “It will motivate us and push us to the best we can.”
Pebble Hills preps to play game two against the Jefferson Foxes at 3:30 p.m.
