We’re back!! For our second stop, we decided to go to Summer Moon Coffee Thursday afternoon Sept. 29, and as soon as we walked in, we fell in love with its ambiance.

A company originally founded in Austin, Texas in 2002, where their coffee beans are roasted using wood-fired brick ovens.

According to the company, their vision was to create an experience that could be shared through coffee and an atmosphere that inspires the cozy warmth of cozy evenings during a summer moon. The company has grown ever since and has become a hot spot in the Sun City.

In-store and online they advertise many things aside from coffee, like their own merch line, with mugs, tumblers, candles, keychains, stickers, t-shirts and hoodies, caps, beanies, socks, and even their own bags and pods of coffee so you are able to make it in the comfort of your own home.

When we walked in, the air was filled with a roasted coffee aroma, their menu is lengthy and full of options to choose from. Aside from coffee, they also have tea and coffee “over-ice” and “blended coffee” also known as frozen coffee.

But what makes this coffee shop interesting is the theme they have.

The company has their own sweet milk, called “Moon Milk.”  The way it works highly depends on how you like your coffee, going from a quarter moon being the least sweet, a half moon being a medium amount of sweetness, to a full moon being the sweetest.

They also offer food options such as pastries and burritos. Connected to their shop, is a “Schlotzsky’s” which is separated by a wall, offering more food to purchase.

Towards the back of the shop, they have drink dispensers filled with water containing chunks of fruit in it for flavor. And it’s completely free to grab a cup!

Location wise, it is near our daily routes, and inside is the perfect place to write essays, study, and do those last-minute assignments before the end of the 9 weeks. It is also cozy and inviting where it is comfortable enough if you’d want to have a date there.

Now for the taste test. We ordered an “Iced Winter Moon Latte” and an “Iced 1/2 Moon Coffee with a pump of pumpkin spice.” Both were medium, but they also carry a large option, but it seems the medium is the most popular. The taste of coffee was rich in both of them, and there was definitely a change in sweetness with the amount of “Moon Milk” that was in both of them.

They have an open kitchen where you can see the process of how they make your coffee. The customer service was very satisfactory, the worker offered to explain how everything works and if we needed any help or had any question we could count on her.

All of these factors contributed to us rating Summer Moon Coffee a 5 out 5 coffees. Stay tuned for ‘Coffee Box’ coming soon.
