The National Honor Society hosted their 8th bi-annual blood drive Aug. 19 in the small gym courtesy of Vitalant, a non-profit organization, who hosts these blood drives at Pebble Hills.

This a tradition originating from our beloved NHS members, senior Deyanira Nevarez tells us a little bit about why they have kept this tradition alive these eight years.

“Its a tradition because we feel it is important to help our community and start getting involved at the high school level,” Nevarez said.

With little wait time, senior Miranda Miranda heads to get her vitals taken to find out whether or not she is eligible to donate blood.

“I felt very nervous because I had never donated blood before,” said Miranda after donating. “I feel slight pain, but I am happy I did it because I get to help people in need.”

The Spartan community came together and showed out at  the fall 2022 blood drive. NHS members are hoping to see you at the next blood drive. They are currently planning another one in December and two more in the spring.

Vitalant has been to the school 14 times since the days of El Dorado 9th Grade Academy.
