After winning their third match of the season against El Dorado, the tennis team looked to have success as they welcomed the Socorro Bulldogs Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 27.

“I think we are going to be doing pretty good so far,” said head coach Karla Ramirez about her team’s progress. “We have won three games and lost one, so hopefully we can do [well] today. We do have a lot of new kids so I am very excited.”

After a week of preparation including technical drills and conditioning, the team was ready for their match against the Bulldogs.

“Yeah, we mostly practice to serve because it is the most difficult to do and also consistency,” senior and tennis captain Diego Rodriguez said.

Pebble Hills did not manage to pull out the win against their district opponent, but with more time learning the fundamentals of tennis and preparing for the fall and winter play has Ramirez confident of her players.

“We do have a lot of new kids so I am very excited that it is a new team, but slowly we will be growing,” Ramirez said.
