Excitement flooded the air of the Terra Nova Ballroom as seniors and juniors entered the venue, dressed up for Pebble Hills’ first-senior prom on Saturday, April 28.

“Although there was a lot of controversy about prom, I think that the end result was spectacular,” senior Emma Larson said. “So many people ended up having more fun than expected. Honestly, I only saw positive things on social media.”

The venue might have been small, but according to students, it made the night more exclusive. Class sponsors, Amanda Garay, Monika Hayes, April Granados, and Vincent Thomas, worked hard to make an unforgettable event, honoring the first-ever senior class.

“It was a very welcoming event,” said junior Helena Rodriguez who was a little nervous about going with her AV production classmates, who were all seniors, but felt at ease after entering the ballroom. “It was more positive than anything we have had at school. Everybody put there differences aside and had a good time.”

Senior Destiny Provencio went with a group and made every minute of her last high-school dance memorable.

“When you go with friends you don’t have to worry about sticking with one person, you get to go around and be social with everybody,” Provencio said. “It was a perfect way to end senior year. There was no better way to end it because of how positive the environment was. It unified the senior class and made us stronger.”

Although Garay faced a large amount of backlash for originally selling 350 tickets, an extra 150 were sold in order accommodate to more students.

“After all was said and done, prom is now a beautiful memory for our seniors, but it’s not over… the best is yet to come!” Garay wrote on Twitter.

The prom king and queen were Kevin Averrette and Ebony Rodgers.
