This season has definitely been a different one for the girl’s basketball team. They have won seven of their last eight games, including their 42-31 victory over the Americas Trailblazers Tuesday night, Dec. 12.

Both teams seemed to struggle offensively, as the score was 6-5 toward the end of the first quarter. Triniti Anderson put up the first four points for the home team. The Spartans seemed to separate in the second quarter as they held a 7-point lead, 18-9.

Freshman Yazmin Avila had a breakout performance in the first half with 5 points. She also contributed defensively. Thalia Waters followed with 3 points.

The offense was clicking in the second half as the girls were scoring with ease. They were able to put up 24 points against the visiting Blazers in the half alone.

The Spartans were able to get their 14th win of the season and continue their hot streak as they welcome the Socorro Bulldogs Friday afternoon Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
