The boys’ basketball team took home the 68-46 win in last night’s game against Austin. The team refocused and came back from last week’s blowout game against Burges, where the team suffered their first loss of the season.

“I think the game in our past wasn’t really on our minds,” junior Austin Brown said. “We just saw it as a warm-up game going into Dallas this weekend. We have bigger and better plans going forward.”

Brown had a game-high 19 points. Brown connected on four 3-pointers and two layups and went 3-4 at the free-throw line.

The newest addition to the team is sophomore Isaiah Davis, who proved his talent on the court by making his presence known at both sides of the court.

Recent addition junior Diego Mudloff contributed to the team’s success when he stole the ball and scored a solid three within the first minute of checking into the game.

For the majority of the game, Spartans held a double-digit lead. The boys allowed Austin to score eight points within the first quarter. Another stellar performance from the defensive end that was key in the team’s accomplishment was their pressure, which forced Austin to turn the ball over four times within the first quarter.

The Spartan boys will travel out of town for an elite Dallas tournament in Cedar Hill this weekend. They will be competing against twelve teams from all over the country, some of which are ranked nation wide. The Spartans open up tournament play Thursday Dec. 7 against West Mesquite.
