After obtaining their win in their season opener against the Irvin Rockets, the boy’s varsity basketball team was successful in yet another dominating performance at home. The Spartans were able to gain a double-digit en route to an easy 80-65 win against the Bowie Bears.

For consecutive games, the Spartans have flexed just how high-powered their offense can be; scoring over 80 or more points seems to be a goal offensively. Pushing the ball and hitting the open man in a fast break are what will help them reach 80 points a game.

Senior Willie Avalos, who finished the game with 19 points, started the first quarter off with a lay-up, putting the first two points on the scoreboard.

Fresh off a game high 20-point performance, Robert Lott continued his with stellar shooting from behind the field, as he will able to hit

Head coach, Arturo Escobar, says he was proud of his team’s performance and how consistent they have been from the previous years. The team has virtually the same players with nine seniors as well as the addition of a few juniors. Returning junior, Austin Brown, scored a total of 13 points points.

“We talked about returning and advancing to the playoffs,” Escobar said.

The Spartans ended the fourth quarter with a 15-point difference, beating Bowie 80-65. The boy’s will be participating in the Fabens Independent School District tournament starting November, 15 against Santa Teresa.
