Our President is the Biggest Cyber Bully of Our Nation

Many young Americans were raised in a technological age and were always taught to use social media responsibly. The flaws of social media have always included keyboard warriors, and cyber bullying. Unfortunately, social media now has a brand-new problem and his name is President Donald Trump.

Time and time again we have seen our president, leader, and face of the nation use his social media accounts as a bullying method. The most recent of these events took place on Friday, when Trump decided to threaten Kim Jong Un, North Korean leader, with weapon testing. This is merely one example of how our president has been irresponsible and immature with his twitter account. For many Americans, this tweet was another straw on the camel’s back and provided further reasoning for the dislike of the president.

What have we done to ourselves? Trump is the biggest cyberbully our nation has seen, yet many Americans elected him to be their child’s role model and a big part of their lives. It is unfortunate to see our nation head towards such a hateful society. Our president has only given justification for the display of hatred within our country. His entire campaign consisted of the idea to “Make America Great Again,” yet Trump continues to deepen the wedge that creates division among our nation. He has validated bullies across the nation with his own racist and bigot comments, many of which we see through his speeches, interviews, and most frequently, in his tweets.

The United States of America is headed in a downwards spiral because Trump has continuously degraded other elected officials, distinctive groups (such as LGBTQ or Black Lives Matter), and celebrity role models through cyber bullying. As this shameful action continues, he shows others that it is appropriate to act similarly to him. The North Korean incident shows me that the cyber bullying is getting out of hand and someone needs to ground Trump from his social media before he crosses the line and gets the rest of the nation in a heap of trouble.
