First Middleweight Title Fight Is One For The Books At UFC 243

Robert Whittaker, who is the current middleweight champion, has not fought since June 8 of 2017; where he won by split decision over Yoel Romero at UFC 213.

In the opening round to the Romero fight, Whittaker suffered a ligament injury to his left knee. Despite Whittaker’s claims to being healthy and feeling good to fight many believe that his injury could potentially stunt his leg game as far as movement and kicks.

Fans believe that if Israel A
.desanya can capitalize on this injury of Whittaker’s left knee he may be able to shut Whittaker down in the early rounds of the fight.

Whittaker will face off with Adesanya in what will undoubtedly be a bloody war between the two. Whittaker (20-4) and Yoel Romero Israel Adesanya (17-0), who is also coming off a win via unanimous decision over Kelvin Gastelum.

UFC 243 will be taking place in the Marvel Stadium Melbourne Australia with the main card being Whittaker vs Adesanya.

Both fighters are coming off a win with Whittaker coming in at 6’0” and 185.00 LBS with a reach of 73.5 inches and leg reach of 43 inches. Adesanya is coming into this fight at 6’4” 185.00 LBS with a reach advantage at an 80 inches reach and a 44.5 inches leg reach. With these statistics and past records, bets are already in for the win going to Adesanya win by TKO has Robert at a 48 percent and Adesanya at a 81 percent.

Should Whittaker win it will likely be with a submission over Adesanya, but if the fight makes it to a decision,he still has a great chance of winning as ESPN predicts that he has a 29 percent chance of winning the decision. Adesanya has a 19 percent chance of getting the decision.

As far as the striking game goes, Whittaker has the advantage with 4.82 shots landing per minute and 40 percent of these strikes being counted as significant and being able to take a whopping 3.65 of incoming strikes. Adesanya has 4.47 shots landing per minute with 53 percent of these being see as significant strikes and being able to absorb 2.07 shots per minute.

Many do not seem to be bothered by the fact that this card only has one title fight because of the two people that are in the main event. All MMA fans just simply cannot wait to see Whittaker and Adesanya face off in the cage Oct.5, and people are still paying for PPV on ESPN+ which is $4.99 per month, but is an additional price to view PPV and UFC fight pass.

if you do not have ESPN+ this fight alone makes it worth the price.

The main event on the UFC 243 card is a big one,not just because both fighters are current champs, but are coming off a win.

Adesanya looks untouchable with some incredible wins as a young fighter and Whittaker being an older veteran and having not have fought in a year, but also being regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, makes UFC 243 an event that will be remembered for years.

This fight can either make Adesanya even that much greater or it can remind the fans that Whittaker is and always will be the middleweight champion no matter the final outcome of this fight, it will with no doubt be an incredible display of combat skills. Personally, this will be an incredible fight.
